Universal Music Group Partners with ElevenLabs for AI Remix Platform

Universal Music Group and ElevenLabs have announced a multiyear licensing agreement to develop a new artificial intelligence platform. Universal Music Group has already struck similar AI licensing deals with Nvidia, Spotify, and Klay, and is currently developing another music platform with Udio. This strategy mirrors broader industry movements, such as Warner Music Group and BMG allowing their licensed songs to be used for Suno’s recently released AI music model. By requiring an opt-in for artists and explicitly emphasizing fair compensation, UMG is attempting to balance copyright protection with the growing demand for user-generated remixes.
