Microsoft Connects Fabric’s Business Context to Copilot and AI Apps

At its Fabric + SQL European Community Conference in Barcelona, Microsoft announced features across Fabric, Power BI, OneLake, and Azure SQL, centered on unifying data, business meaning, and AI. Fabric IQ is generally available in Copilot Chat and Cowork without additional token costs, and Power BI semantic-model definitions, metrics, and insights can inform Copilot responses and actions. Microsoft is positioning Fabric as both the context layer for Copilot and a managed runtime for AI-powered business applications. Fabric Apps extends that proposition from answering questions to building complete applications, while Osmos-derived features address the preparation of AI-ready data. Compared with asking Claude to handle complex data engineering through prompting alone, Microsoft says the specialized Osmos technology produces higher accuracy.
