Muse Finds Early Traction

Meta released Muse on September 8, and the personal AI agent reached millions of users within two weeks. [3][4][6] Mark Zuckerberg described the early response as “a home run right out of the gate.” [4][6] At Meta Connect 2026, Zuckerberg presented Muse as a central component of the company’s AI strategy and linked it with several new hardware products. [2][3]

Muse can identify and cancel recurring subscriptions, placing a capability previously offered by dedicated subscription-management services inside a broader personal assistant. [1] A Mastercard and FT Strategies report said 44% of U.S. consumers increased subscription spending in 2025, while average annual spending reached $1,887. [1] Bank of America payments data showed subscription spending rising 7.7% year over year in July, with entertainment and retail representing about 43% of the total. [1]

A Dedicated Muse Wearable

Meta introduced Muse Charm as a keychain-sized device that provides access to Muse without requiring a smartphone, computer or smart glasses. [2][5] Zuckerberg said Meta was still finalizing the device’s components and expected it to be ready around the December holiday period. [2][5] The wearable includes a small screen, a fingerprint sensor, a camera and an animated Muse character named Jolly. [7]

Meta also announced $1,299 VR Glasses planned for spring 2027, with a glasses-shaped design connected to a separate wired computing unit. [2][3] Third-generation Ray-Ban Meta glasses start at $449, while Meta has said Muse will be integrated across the Ray-Ban smart-glasses line with support for customized wake words. [2][4]

Connectors, Commerce and Privacy

Meta launched the Muse Connector Platform to let developers transform existing third-party APIs into tools the agent can invoke during conversations. [8] The platform uses the Muse Spark model to support workflows such as booking travel and managing schedules without requiring users to leave the conversation interface. [8] Connectors operate within the isolated Muse Secure VM, while OAuth provides account linking for connected services. [8]

Meta says users control how much access Muse receives and that the agent operates through a dedicated Muse Secure VM. [5] Meta plans to collect a merchant-paid fee on transactions completed by Muse, a model that Memeburn said places the company in direct conflict with Amazon’s advertising business. [3] Meta’s privacy record includes a $5 billion Federal Trade Commission penalty imposed on Facebook in 2019, along with new privacy requirements concerning control over personal information. [5]

What it means

Muse is becoming more than a conversational assistant: Meta is pairing task execution with dedicated hardware, smart glasses and a platform through which developers can expose services as agent-callable tools. That breadth distinguishes Muse from standalone subscription-management services, because cancellation, travel booking, shopping and schedule management can occupy the same interface. The merchant-paid fee model also places Meta closer to Amazon’s commercial territory, while Muse Charm and Ray-Ban integration give it multiple routes into everyday use. What the sources don't address: how Meta will price Muse Charm, divide transaction economics with developers or measure whether early adoption becomes sustained usage.

Muse illustrates how personal agents can extend across hardware, third-party APIs and commercial transactions rather than remaining confined to a chat interface. AI practitioners will need to consider tool integration, authentication, privacy boundaries and business models together when designing comparable agent systems.
