Google Will Turn Gemini Gems Into Skills on November 17

Google announced it is shutting down Gems, the Gemini feature for building custom AI assistants for specific tasks. Introduced in 2024, Gems let users teach Gemini to perform recurring tasks without repeating instructions, and users could share custom assistants with others. The migration recasts Gemini customization from a separately branded assistant into a reusable capability intended to work across AI tasks.
