What the reports show

Smart reports analyze how a team uses Claude and report on its work, costs, session friction and repeated patterns that might become shared skills.[2] Claude analyzes a sample of transcripts in the selected scope and groups them into workstreams and output types.[2] Reports show spending attached to each workstream and the deliverables produced.[1] They can identify common friction, including missing connectors and failed tool calls.[1] Recommendations may include workflows to turn into skills and rules to add to a code repository.[1] Managers can share report findings as artifacts with people able to act on them.[1]

Controls, access and limits

A report creator can select a team, a time range of up to 28 days, products, analysis focus areas and custom questions.[2] Available product choices include chat, Claude Code, Claude Cowork and the unified chat and Cowork experience.[2] Reports can address custom questions about model use and cost, and admins can save questions and insights as templates for future reports.[1] Admins with billing permission can raise a limit from a report.[1] Organization owners can allow non-admin team leads to run reports for their own groups.[1] Organizations can run up to 10 reports per month at no charge; queued and in-progress reports count toward the cap.[2]

Privacy and configuration caveats

Anthropic says smart reports are intended to help admins understand adoption and plan investment, not evaluate individual performance or make employment decisions.[1] Reports involving restricted topics, including personal conversations, are used only for aggregate analysis and do not include summaries.[2] Personal conversations do not appear as individual sessions or names in reports.[2] Smart reports are unavailable to Enterprise organizations using customer-managed encryption keys, a HIPAA configuration or a hybrid deployment that runs inference on their own cloud provider.[2] For organizations using zero data retention for Claude Code, reports cover chat and Claude Cowork but exclude Claude Code.[2]

Two other features

Anthropic says in-app surveys capture employee feedback about how Claude enables them to do new work.[1] It also says pooled group budgets let administrators set one shared budget per team.[1] Anthropic describes smart reports as providing visibility into how AI is used across an organization.[1] The company says each report draws on tens of thousands of sessions to surface common pain points and recurring workflows worth turning into skills.[1] Together, the features give administrators different ways to examine use, gather feedback and set team budgets, although the evidence does not specify how survey results or budgets connect to an individual report.

Teams considering organization-wide AI reporting should check the configuration exclusions and the 10-report monthly cap before planning a rollout. The stated purpose is organizational learning and investment planning, so establish clear internal expectations about how findings will be used.
